HDR Style Handrail
A handrail is used in a staircase to provide support and safety for people as they ascend or descend. By gripping the handrail, individuals can maintain balance, reduce the risk of falls, and navigate the stairs more securely. The HDR Style Handrail is has a more block-shaped design as opposed to the curvaceous aesthetic of the Crown Style Handrail!
Placement of the Handrail:
- On Top of the Balusters:
In open staircases, you place the handrail on top of the balusters (vertical posts) that run along the edge of the stairs. This setup not only provides safety but also adds to the aesthetic appeal of the staircase. - At the Correct Height:
You position the handrail at a height that is comfortable for most people to grip, usually between 850mm to 1000m above the stair tread. Here at Mrstairs, ours are at 900mm. This ensures that the handrail is easily accessible to both adults and children. - Extending Beyond the Stairs:
For additional safety, you extend the handrail slightly beyond the top and bottom steps. This extension gives users a point of support as they step on or off the staircase. - Along the Wall:
You can install some handrails along the wall side of the staircase if the stairs are enclosed. This provides a continuous point of support as you move up or down the stairs.
By correctly using and placing a handrail in a staircase, you enhance both the safety and functionality of the stairs while also contributing to the overall design of the space.
